Dawn Lissy, Chair and Founder of NeuroAlly Family Fund
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates 20% or 1 in 5 Americans fall into the "neurodivergent" category, which includes Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Tourettes and others. These are NOT the same as medically diagnosed chemical imbalances which are associated with depression and anxiety.
The confusion comes when the two crossover, making it difficult to ascertain which variable is presenting: the chemical imbalance or the neuro-wiring or neurodivergent behavior.
Local biomedical engineer, Dawn Lissy and her husband, Chris Lissy founders at Empirical Technologies have launched a new non-profit in town called NeuroAlly Family Fund (NAFF) to help families and individuals impacted by neurodivergence in the household. The testing and equipping of resources to effectively manage neurodivergence for the individual and family are cost prohibitive, ranging from tens of thousands of dollars, into well over $100K.
NeuroAlly Family Fund provides a financial bridge and a spectrum of creative solutions that foster awareness, empathy, and healthy interactions for neurodivergent individuals and families.
