4x Olympian, 9x Nat'l Champion, Kara Winger - Team USA Javelin
Team USA's most decorated athlete in Women's Javelin throw, Kara Winger shared her journey from a two-sport athlete in Washington State to her introduction to the Olympic sport of javelin. Winger is a four-time Olympian and nine-time US National Champion, and still holds the American record for javelin throw at 68.11 m (223 ft 5 1⁄4 in).
Mrs. Winger shares her passion for the Olympic experience and some of the hallmark moments that have made her one of the most popular athletes among her Olympic and Paralympic peers. Her brilliant personality and charisma show so bright, she is the only non-medaling athlete to ever be voted among the athletes to be the US flag bearer for the closing ceremonies - this particular instance at the 2020 Tokyo Games.
